Dr. A K Handa is a conscientious Interventional Gastroenterologist from Pune. He is a veteran medical practitioner with more than 25 years of rich experience in treatment of ailments related to the Gastro intestinal tract of human body. Dr. Handa's special interest lies in-

1) Diagnostic & Therapeutic Intervention in Luminal & Pancreaticobiliary Disorders:
- Biopsy of upper GI tract lesion, Sclerotherapy for Oesophageal Varices (EST).
- Variceal ligation for Oesophageal varices (EVL), Glue injection for Gastric varices.
- Oesophageal, antro pyloric & duodenal stricture dilatation.
- Oesophageal, antro pyloric & duodenal stenting for benign and malignant strictures.
- Foreign body removal, haemoclipping, injection tamponade for bleeding ulcers.

2) Lower Gastro Intestinal Endoscopy:
- Sigmoidoscopy & Colonoscopy.
- Biopsy of lower GI tract lesion & Polypectomy.
- Colonic stricture dilatation.
- Colonic stenting for decompression in cases of colonic obstruction.
- Colonic decompression for volvulus.
- Injection tamponade for bleeding lesions.

3) Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP):
- Papillotomy (EPT)
- CBD stone removal & CBD stenting for benign and malignant lesions.
- Benign biliary stricture, bile leaks, sclerosing cholangitis, malignant stricture.
- Periampullary Carcinoma.
- Endoscopic naso-biliary drain placement (ENBD).
- Pancreatic sphincterotomy, pancreatic stone removeal & stenting.

Dr. Handa completed MBBS in 1988 and MD (General Medicine) in 1998 from AFMC, Pune. He pursued DNB (General Medicine) in 2001 from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. He also accomplished DM (Gastroenterology) from PGIMER, Chandigarh in 2006.

Dr. Handa is Consultant Gastroenterologist with Inlaks & Budhrani Hospital, Pune since 2012. He has worked with Command Hospital (Southern Command), Pune and (Northern Command), Udhampur, J & K. His Senior Residency, DM (Gastroenterology) was completed in PGIMER, Chandigarh. He also served 3 Air Force Hospital, Madhya Pradesh and 5 Air Force Hospital, Assam as General Physician.
